/\Pastoral Plan

"Fit for Mission"

St Francis Xavier Parish launched Fit for Mission Sunday 1st June on the celebration of the Ascension of the Lord. At homily time the priests explained that Fit for Mission is the Pastoral Plan for Catholics of Auckland Diocese including Northland for the next five years. There was an important symbolism in that the plan was given to families and individuals as part of the homliy.

On the following Sunday Sr Sian Owen rsj came from Auckland to lead workshops over three Sundays about Exploring and Sharing Faith. The third workshop had the participants discussing and putting on paper ways groups and individuals might put into action Fit for Mission. The key emphasis of the Pastoral Plan Fit for Mission is about reaching out. At the end of every Mass the priest prays a blessing over the people and then sends them out. One of the statements he uses is "Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord" and the people say "Thanks be to God".

To find out more about Fit for Mission go to the Catholic Diocese of Auckland website www.aucklandcatholic.org.nz

A Leader Committee made of members of our Parish family is being established and will meet soon. And already there are people reporting they have read and prayed about the Fit for Mission document. Pray that they and all of us know the gracious power of God made known in Christ Jesus as we put the plan into action.
